Lystra - Hatunsaray
Excavations began in 2025 at the ancient city of Lystra, located in the Meram Botsa and Hatunsaray regions, a city of great significance not only in Anatolia but also in global and Christian history. The city, which has attracted the attention of historians and archaeologists due to St. Paul's three separate visits to the city and its mention in the Bible, is considered a valuable resource for faith tourism. As excavations progress, valuable structures are being unearthed. Founded as a colonial city during the Roman period, the ancient city of Lystra, which over time became one of the most important centers of Christian history, is being unearthed. The city mentioned in the Bible derives its true significance from the three visits St. Paul made during his travels through Anatolia. Of course, St. Paul visited many cities, but both the healing of a bedridden patient and the various events he experienced here have led to Lystra being recognized as one of the most famous cities in Anatolia, where the foundations of Christianity were laid.
